Question remains, is this enough of a feature to make a firmware update worth it? I guess I'll bring my 4TB drive back on-site for a full backup and give it a go. Serves me right for not checking version numbers.

A chorus line If you have updated the device to the latest firmware and the links still reliably fail when you try to use them the way the manual indicates, open a support request with synology or whatever company supports their gear if any. Magnet links are certainly less commonly used than torrent files so their actual functionality on the device is probably not well tested. Any ideas? I have no experience with that particular product but, two things: 1.ĭevices like that always seem to cut corners on the niche features like that. Most of Synology's support pages suggest that this functionality is supported. My Synology DSj does a very nice job of downloading.
